I have decided that today is the “official” announcement of my intended pilgrimage to Lourdes next summer. I have felt a gentle urging to do this in the last year, and I think it’s time for me to get serious. As it stands right now, my total pilgrimage fund is a whopping $14.15–which means there are only about $3000 to go. I am curious as to where the funds for this excursion will come from. But if I am meant to go, the money will appear.
This whole thing has set me to wondering, why do people go on a pilgrimage? Is there something inside of them that moves them to go? I know what I am looking for, and I wonder why it’s halfway around the world in France. And why France? There are other sites the Blessed Virgin has visited, but there has always been something about Lourdes that intreagues me.
I also learned that if I am successful, I will make the journey to Lourdes when I am 35–the same age as St. Burnadette at the time of her death.
The Lord says, “Ask, and you will receive.” So, I am asking for direction. How do I begin this?
